BIG Bruv bosses are refusing to hand unedited tapes of the show to cops probing the race row — unless they get a court order.
Hertfordshire police are now set to go to magistrates to get a warrant this week which will FORCE chiefs to hand them over.
It came as Jo O’Meara was to become the third housemate to be quizzed by cops today.
Police have interviewed Danielle Lloyd and Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty as witnesses.
Jade Goody, her mum Jackiey Budden, Dirk Benedict and Jermaine Jackson — who made the “white trash” comment — are also set to be quizzed this week.
A police insider said: “It's proving easier to speak to all the housemates than to get Channel 4 and Endemol to help us. We just wonder what they are hiding.”
Channel 4 have given cops tapes of all the nightly edited “highlights” shows. But there are HOURS of footage left.
Viewers could watch live streaming on E4 during the show’s run — even though anything remotely controversial was immediately blocked out or taken off air.
There are also unscreened tapes of housemates speaking in the Diary Room.
Police believe it could help them with their inquiries into the race storm.
The Sun told how they are probing claims that winner Shilpa was twice called a “P*ki” in the house.
Cops were anonymously given evidence that alleges two racist clips exist — even though Channel 4 denies this.
A Channel 4 spokeswoman said last night: “The police have requested un-transmitted programme material. Channel 4’s policy, consistent with that of all broadcasters, is to require the police to obtain a court order before material is handed over.
“The police must satisfy a court that such material is of substantial value to their investigation and that disclosure is in the public interest.”
Jermaine insisted yesterday that he only repeated something said by A-Team star Dirk when he made the “white trash” comment — as he launched an anti-bullying campaign.
He said: “Let's clear this matter up and I want everybody to hear this — I did not call Jade Goody white trash. I repeated something to Shilpa about how they spoke about Jade and the other girls.”
Hertfordshire police said yesterday: “Inquiries are still ongoing.”
